What a Skagit Valley crawl space does to insulation
Skagit Valley ground stays wet most of the year. Under a house that shows up as batt sagging out of the joist bays, cold floors in the rooms above, and old insulation doing the opposite of its job.
Once something gets in through an open vent, the insulation underneath the house is usually part of the problem by the time anyone calls. That is the condition Israel's crew walks into on most first visits, not the exception.

The water lines get wrapped, every time
Our insulation install always includes insulating your water lines. It is not an upgrade and it is not something you have to ask for. It is part of every crawl space job RGS does.
A wrapped line does not freeze in the first cold snap of the year. On a job with this much plumbing running through the joist bays, skipping it would leave half the point of the work undone.
Chapter 03
Vapor barrier is the half people forget
Ground cover gets torn, walked on, and left in pieces long before anyone thinks to replace it. RGS treats the vapor barrier as its own removal and reinstallation, not a patch laid over whatever is already down there.
The barrier and the insulation are one job. New batt over a torn barrier buys the house a year, maybe two, before the moisture finds its way back in.
Air sealing the sub floor penetrations
Cold floors are rarely the batt itself. They are the gaps around pipes, ducts and wiring where they pass through the sub floor, every one of them pulling crawl space air straight up into the house.
Sealing those penetrations happens on the same visit as the insulation, not a separate call. It is the difference between a floor that feels insulated and one that only looks it from below.
Ductwork, drainage and sump pumps
An insulated, sealed duct system runs the house more comfortably, more efficiently and more safely than one left bare under the floor.
Where the ground under the house will not drain on its own, RGS installs crawl space drainage and sump pumps as part of the same scope, so the insulation and vapor barrier going back in actually stay dry.
