Chapter 01
Removing what is up there now
Most attic jobs start with what is already up there, not what is going in. Blow-in insulation that has fallen apart during a remodel, an attic clean-out after rats got in, batt torn loose and pushed into corners, insulation ruined by fire or water damage. None of it stays for the new install.
RGS strips it out first: blow-in removal, batt insulation pulled from the attic space, everything hauled off before a single new bag goes in. A new R-value laid over contaminated old insulation is not a fix, it is a patch.

R-38 or R-49, and why the number matters
RGS installs blow-in insulation at R-38 or R-49 depending on the attic and what the house needs, plus batt insulation where that is the better fit. The two numbers are not interchangeable. The higher one means more material and more resistance to the cold moving through the ceiling below.
Some jobs are a straight new install. Others are adding to insulation that is already up there but has settled and thinned over the years, bringing an under-insulated attic back up rather than starting from zero.
Chapter 03
Ventilation is part of the insulation job
Insulation without airflow just traps moisture. RGS treats attic ventilation as part of the same visit: adding roof vents where the attic needs them, exhausting ceiling fans straight out through the roof instead of dead-ending them in the attic space, cleaning gable vents and clearing soffit vents that have gone years without attention.
A soffit vent packed with old insulation does not move air, it just sits there looking like it works. Clearing it is part of getting the new insulation to perform the way the R-value on the bag says it should.
Keeping the wildlife out
Rat, bat, bird, raccoon and opossum exclusion for attics is its own line of work, and it is usually the reason the insulation needed replacing in the first place.
RGS finds where they got in, seals it, and clears out what they left behind before any new insulation goes in on top. Sealing the attic and installing the new material happen on the same job, not two separate calls months apart.
